The Lithuanian word “Savigyna” – meaning is only "self-defence" (as Korean Hapkido, Japanese aiwakido – Tenchi Bogyo Ryu, Russian – specnaz, ets.). 
To distinguish an ancient heritage of the Lithuanian soldiers as the national property of the ancient Lithuanian culture, recreated Lithuanian Martial Arts was named: “Lithuanian Traditional“ Savigyna ””® - LTS.

The Roman historian Tatsit mentioned Lithuanian tribes. 

In the second century A.D. about Lithuania we find mentions at the Alexandria geographer Ptolemeja.

Gerodot in 6 century A.D. identified the Baltic tribes.
In 4-6 Century accumulation of riches at the expense of conducting wars and enslavement of neighbours has A.D. begun. Soldiers are allocated into separate very much-preferred social group. It gives the chance to Lithuania to be allocated among neighbours and to wage victorious wars.
Victories are most known: 
- over the Moscow Princedom 1368, 1370, 1372, 
- a victory over Teutonic knight in fight at Griunvald (Zalgiris) in 1410, 
- a victory over Moscow, ended reception by the Lithuanian prince Vladislavas of a crown of Grand duchy Moscow. The rights to reign have been returned Moscow only on 1632 .
The Greatest territory ever won in Europe it was a territory from Baltic to Black sea it belonged to Lithuania from the beginning of 1550th years till 1653. 
                   
Till now memories on fighting skills of ancient Lithuanians have remained in national Lithuanian folklore - fairy tales, legends, and dances. The Lithuania is the only state in the world that has saved ) more than 55 thousand texts, descriptions of dances and rituals (thanks to known Lithuanian collector of folklore–Jonas Basanavichius)…
